Since childhood, people are taught to consume large amounts of fluid. Everyone knows that you need to drink at least two liters of water per day. At the same time, some lose control of themselves and start drinking too much, even in situations where this is not necessary at all.

This article describes situations in which it is better to give up water and replace it with another liquid for the sake of your own health and well-being.

Do not drink before bedtime

Many people right before going to bed go to the kitchen and drink a glass of water or even more. They believe that in this way they help the body and protect it from dehydration, but this is far from the case.

Water consumption in the evening can lead to swelling of the body. At night, the kidneys do not work as fast and efficiently as during the day. At night, people usually don’t go to the toilet. Because of this, moisture in the body is delayed and leads to a morning tumor of the face and other parts of the body.

Drinking a glass of water before going to bed can also negatively affect the quality of sleep. If a person often wakes up during the night, then he should stop drinking before bedtime. Take care of your health throughout the day.

Do not drink during intense workouts

Researchers have repeatedly confirmed that drinking plenty of fluids during fitness and strength exercises can be harmful. Those who have just recently started playing sports often drink water as soon as they feel thirsty. Thirst, in turn, occurs almost instantly, as physical activity slightly increases body temperature.

Even a small amount of fluid can lead to headache, chills, and weakness. After drinking a little more, you can put your cardiovascular system at risk. But the most dangerous thing happens if you drink a lot of water after a long three-hour workout.

Excessive fluid intake coupled with prolonged physical activity can lead to hyponatremia. This is a condition of the body in which the kidneys are not ways to remove enough fluid from the body. It is accompanied by vomiting, dizziness, numbness and ends with a coma. Therefore, be sure to remember to monitor the amount of alcohol consumed. Do not try to overcome thirst instantly.

You need to reduce the amount of water you drink if the color of urine changes

There is an opinion that colorless urine is a sign of a healthy lifestyle. Allegedly, such a color of urine indicates the presence in the body of a sufficient amount of water. Because of this myth, people often start drinking more than they need. Colorless urine does indicate a lot of fluid, but this is not always good.

Firstly, this is a sign of excess moisture, and the first thing to do in this case is to reduce the amount of water consumed. Secondly, the changed color of urine is one of the symptoms of diabetes and other serious diseases. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the general state of health if the urine suddenly becomes transparent and does not change its color, even after reducing the amount of water consumed.

Do not drink spicy food

Another mistake made by drinkers. They believe that they can cope with the burning sensation of spicy food if they drink it with cold water.

A burning sensation is caused by molecules of a substance called “capsacin,” which water cannot affect in any way. Drinking hot food can only aggravate the situation, since the liquid will spread the “burning” molecules throughout the oral cavity. It is better to drink milk or some other dairy product. They also stimulate digestion.

Do not drink with food

Water lovers often suffer from indigestion, as they can not resist drinking even with food. This problem is usually not taken seriously, because it does not lead to any immediate consequences, but in the long run, drinking food can lead to gastritis and other diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Drinking food with water, a person pushes it into the intestines from the stomach, thereby provoking indigestion. The stomach simply does not have time to process food. Digestive juice does not affect food properly. The digestion process is interrupted. Everything eaten begins to ferment and rot right in the stomach.

In the course of the digestive system, toxins are produced that are absorbed into the human blood, poisoning it. Therefore, it is better to start drinking no earlier than half an hour after eating.

The only liquid that can be consumed with food is wine. This drink stimulates the gastrointestinal tract and only helps the body cope with the absorption of food.

Do not drink from unverified sources

This advice seems too obvious, but it is not always followed. It is best to drink water from specialized filters (either in the form of a kettle or as a tool built into the water supply). Water pipes (and other fluid sources) often contain harmful elements. Once in the body, microbes can poison the body.

Because of this, the liver and kidneys suffer. Dirty water leads to dysfunction of these organs. In addition, it is from unverified water sources that dangerous bacteria often enter the intestines, which provoke vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and dehydration.

Better not to drink sweetened and salt water

Not all liquids and not all water are beneficial to humans. Soda pop with lots of sugar and artificial sweeteners is bad in itself. The substances contained in it negatively affect the stomach and can lead to gastritis. In addition, soda arouses appetite. Excess sugar, coupled with an excess of food, will certainly lead to obesity and other ailments.

Salt water can significantly increase the amount of salt in the body. This, in turn, will lead to weakness and loss of consciousness.

Need to be able to stop in time

For some reason, many people perceive the necessary two liters per day as a minimum. Allegedly, the main thing is not to drink less, but more is possible. In fact, excess water is as dangerous to the body as its lack. Therefore, it is so important to stop drinking water on time.

The organs that remove moisture from the body are overflowing with water, swell, and lose their previous effectiveness.

Also, water for a period of time can dilute gastric juice, reducing its concentration. Because of this, he copes worse with bacteria that enter the body with food. The kidneys also suffer due to the fact that they do not have to save water, and this is one of the most important functions of the body.

An overdose of water can result in death for a person if you drink enough. Cerebral edema and almost instant death occurs if you drink more than three to four liters in a short period of time.
