The modern pharmaceutical industry produces a large number of contraceptives, one of which is Dicyclylene. It not only protects a woman from an unwanted pregnancy, but also helps to get rid of gynecological diseases.

Release form, composition and packaging

The drug is not as famous in our country as other similar drugs, but doctors still recommend it because of the low price and ease of use.

In one white tablet, convex form 2 active substances - dienogest (2 mg) and ethinyl estradiol (0.03 mg). The composition of "Dicyclin" is not exhausted with these components, but the rest of the substances are present in it as forming and ensuring safety.

Blisters (1 to 3) are packed in cardboard boxes.

Pharmacological action, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Oral contraceptive "Ditsiklen" refers to monophasic drugs with a low content of hormones. The action of the drug is based on preventing sperm from entering through the cervical canal. The effect is achieved due to inhibition of ovulation with a change in the mucus ductility.Active progestogen dienogest favorably affects lipids, increasing the amount of high density lipoproteins.

The medicine also has the ability to establish a menstrual cycle, reducing soreness, duration and intensity of secretions.

A similar effect becomes, among other things, the prevention of the development of anemia.

There is also evidence of a reduction in the risk of developing oncology of the organs of the reproductive system while taking the discussed COC.

The components of the drug are rapidly absorbed and in full with the achievement of the maximum concentration after one and a half to four hours after administration.

The metabolism of ethinyl estradiol is carried out by the liver and intestinal mucosa. The result of this process is the formation of sulfates and metabolites with free radicals. Estradiol is half eliminated after 10 hours, and after 3 cycles of continuous administration - after 15.

The absorption of dienogest occurs very quickly and completely in the digestive system, reaching a maximum concentration after 2 and a half hours. The result of metabolic processes is inactive metabolites.

Dienogest and ethinyl estradiol are excreted through the intestines and bladder after 8.5 to 10 hours. For 6 days, approximately 86% of the substances received with the tablet leave the body.

Indications Dicyclin

Dietziklen pills are shown for seborrhea in non-launched forms and for their intended purpose - to prevent conception.

Doctors often recommend Dieziklen for endometriosis, provided that the woman’s health is constantly monitored.

How to take oral contraceptive

Instructions for use are simple - the drug is drunk once every 24 hours. To comply with the prescribed interval, you should make a habit of taking it at the same, most convenient time. For this purpose, it is easiest to set an alarm or put a pack of pills in a prominent place (near a toothbrush, a pack of coffee, etc.), where it will certainly catch your eye at the right time.

The drug is drunk for 21 days, after which the course is interrupted for a week. These days, withdrawal bleeding should begin.

Reception of "Dicyclinum" begins, if no other similar means have been used before, on the day the menstruation begins. In extreme cases, the beginning of the course can be postponed for several days, but then during the current cycle additional protection measures will be required.

How to drink when changing COCs

You should start taking the discussed oral contraceptive right away, as soon as you took a pill that completes the course of the previous remedy.

There is an opportunity to do this after a period of a week break, if the course consisted of 21 tablets. If the package contained 28 pieces, you can drink a new drug after it is completed.

After mini drank

Any day is suitable for such a transition; there is no need to take a break.

If gestagens enter the body through an implant, the course of taking new tablets should begin on the same day when it was removed. But in the next week, it will be necessary to take additionally any other protective measures.

After abortion

Diethicylene tablets are drunk immediately after an abortion in the first 12 weeks.

An abortion in the second trimester allows you to take the drug 3 to 4 weeks after the manipulation.

Irregular reception

If you miss a tablet with a delay of more than 36 hours, it is important to drink it as quickly as possible. But until the end of the current cycle, additional barrier protection will be required.

If you forget the pill at 3 weeks of continuous use, as in the previously described situation, you should take another pill and take care of other ways to prevent an unplanned pregnancy.

Important: a 7-day break is not required - packaging begins immediately, as soon as the previous one has ended. Under such conditions, hemorrhage or even breakthrough bleeding (“breakthrough”) is possible.

With problems in the digestive system

After suffering vomiting or diarrhea, any substances are poorly absorbed within 3 to 4 hours. Further COC administration is recommended in the same way as a tablet is missed.

Drug interaction

Birth control pills interact with drugs for the liver, which increases the clearance of sex hormones and leads to “breakthrough” bleeding. The quality of protection against unwanted pregnancy is also reduced.

  • “Dicyclin” with an ACE inhibitor of HIV protease or hepatitis C virus can both increase and decrease the amount of hormones in the blood.
  • Azole antimycotics increase the concentration of estrogens with progestogens in the blood (both one and two hormones at once).
  • Taking COCs with Cyclosporine and Lamotrigine increases the amount of the main substance in the first case and lowers in the second. The same applies to Midazolam and Theophylline, Melatonin and Tizanidin.

Compatibility of Dicyclin with Alcohol

According to clinical studies, the absorption of hormones and alcohol is different, which makes the processes of their processing independent of each other. But the dose of the latter should be reasonable.
