During the off-season, there is a high probability of weakening of the immune system and infection. To prevent colds, children are prescribed “Ingavirin Children's” - the most popular among similar drugs on the Russian market.

Ingavirin Composition and Active Ingredient

The active substance of the drug is pentanedioic imidazolylethanamide (vitaglutam). Its content in one capsule is 0.06 g.

And also its composition includes the following substances:

  • milk sugar (lactose) - is used to form a drug, is corrective (gives a pleasant taste);
  • potato starch - baking powder, is needed to create a porous structure;
  • Aerosil (colloidal silicon dioxide) - an enterosorbent that allows you to absorb atoms without changing the composition of the blood;
  • magnesium stearate - filler;
  • titanium dioxide and gelatin - to form the hard shell of the capsule.

Vitaglutam is a substance that affects the mechanism of formation of mature white blood cells in the bone marrow. Thanks to the drug, the process of excretion of white blood bodies into the plasma is accelerated, and innate immunity is strengthened. This allows you to normalize the process of hematopoiesis, provides antiviral and anti-inflammatory protection of the body.

The drug "Ingavirin" is listed by the Russian Ministry of Health in the list of vital funds for the treatment and prevention of influenza and colds.

The medicine is available in various packaging:

  • capsules in a dosage of 30 mg (blue) - one or two blisters for 7 tablets;
  • 60 mg capsules (yellow) - one blister with 7 tablets;
  • capsules in a dosage of 90 mg (red) - one blister with 7 tablets.

The instructions indicate that the drug should be in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of no more than 25 degrees. Subject to the rules, the shelf life is 36 months from the date of issue indicated on the box.

Why prescribe an antiviral drug

All antiviral drugs have a different mechanism of action. “Ingavirin” helps to accelerate the process of death of viral cells, favors a reduction in the period of the disease, reduces the likelihood of complications of various kinds.

The mechanism of action is based on the stimulation of the innate properties of the immune system.

Due to the characteristics of the active substance, Ingavirin reduces the activity of the viral protein, which allows you to establish the process of protecting the body. The drug causes increased formation of interferon, which allows you to increase its level to a physiological norm. This leads to the formation of cells that can detect endogenous (occurring inside) mechanisms of the development of the virus and successfully fight them. The process is accompanied by an increase in the activity of a binding cellular protein that transmits a signal about the need to develop antiviral genes.

The purpose of the drug is possible with the primary symptoms of infection with influenza A and B, the most dangerous types of the disease in the epidemiological sense.

The main signs of an upcoming disease are:

  • high temperature, from 38 degrees;
  • Strong headache;
  • muscle pain and cramps of the limbs;
  • runny nose
  • sore throat and cough;
  • state of weakness;
  • stomach upset.

And also Ingavirin successfully copes with the treatment of various acute respiratory viral infections of the upper respiratory tract.

Common symptoms of infection are:

  • cough of various types - dry, barking, with sputum discharge;
  • runny nose, nasal congestion;
  • temperature from 37.2 to 38.5 degrees;
  • general weakness, lacrimation, conjunctivitis, slight enlargement of the lymph nodes.

You can use the drug for the prevention of all of the above diseases.

“Ingavirin” allows you to successfully fight viruses at the stage of their nucleation in the cells of the body. In addition, the drug belongs to the fourth level of toxicity (low toxic substances), which allows it to be prescribed to a wide range of patients.

Method of application, dosage for children

Capsules of the drug "Ingavirin" are available in various dosages for children from 7 to 18 years. Depending on the age of the child and goals, a different scheme is used to combat viruses and colds.

Children from 7 to 13 years old are recommended to use the drug "Ingavirin" 30 mg. The daily dose is two blue capsules per day. Adolescents over 13 years old are recommended daily intake of one yellow capsule "Ingavirin" 60 mg. The duration of therapy is at least 5 days, less often - a week.

Treatment with the drug should be started no later than the second day of the disease or if primary signs of infection are detected. The capsule is washed down with a large amount of liquid, without binding to food intake. For the prevention of influenza and SARS, the therapeutic dose of Ingavirin is used.

It is forbidden to give the drug to children under the age of majority in a dose of 90 mg (red capsule). For children under 7 years of age, the appointment of Ingavirin is contraindicated.

Interaction with other medicines

Interaction with drugs of a similar action, but with a different mechanism of work, has not been studied. Therefore, the use of various antiviral agents in conjunction with Ingavirin is not recommended.

The compatibility of Ingavirin with antibiotics has been studied in laboratory conditions. Experimentally proven increase in the effectiveness of therapy relative to local purulent inflammation of the mucosa, including those caused by staphylococcus.Therefore, the doctor may prescribe a prescription according to which it is possible to use an antiviral drug together with an antibacterial agent in case of both bacterial and viral infections.

In studies, sedative properties of the drug “Ingavirin” were not found. Its use does not affect perception, reaction rate and learning process. There is no other information about the interaction of this tool with others.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

Contraindication for the appointment of "Ingavirin" in any dosage is:

  • intolerance to any component of the drug;
  • the patient is under 7 years old.

With caution, the drug is prescribed to women during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Laboratory studies did not reveal any mutagenic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effects. In addition, the medicine does not have a local irritant effect and does not have allergenic or carcinogenic properties. However, to exclude a reaction to the components of the drug, the doctor may prescribe a safer analogue.

Side effects of the antiviral drug Ingavirin are allergic manifestations that occur against the background of individual intolerance to any of the components. No other adverse reactions to the drug were found.

Not a single case of an overdose in laboratory tests has been identified. If signs of poisoning appear, consult a doctor immediately.

Analogs of Ingavirin

The drug has a number of advantages over competitors, including ease of administration (1-2 capsules per day) and reasonable packaging (the box contains such a number of pills that is enough for a full course of treatment). However, due to the high cost, Ingavirin is being tried to be replaced with similar antiviral drugs. Consider the main ones, compare the properties.

Ergoferon

The cost of the drug is almost two times lower. In addition, the medicine has antihistamines, which reduces the swelling of the mucosa. The instructions for use indicate the possibility of use from six months of age, which is also considered a positive quality. Ergoferon is a homeopathic medicineIt causes fewer adverse and allergic reactions.

Kagocel

The main active substance is synthesized on the basis of plants, so the application is designed for a long time. The cost of one package is lower than the price of Ingavirin, however, the full course will cost the same cost. The mechanism of action is based on inducing the immune system to get rid of viruses, it is possible to prescribe the drug to a child aged three years.

In addition to the plant base, Kagocel has no fundamental differences from Ingavirin.

Amixin

The active substance of Amiskin is tilorone. It is not an analogue of vitaglutam, however, it has a wider spectrum of action. Ingavirin is effective only for infections of the respiratory system, while Amiskin is used to eliminate viruses throughout the body. The permitted age for use in both drugs is identical - 7 years. But since the treatment course of Amiskin will cost more, it is rarely used as an analog of Ingavirin.

It is important not to self-medicate in a painful condition, but to entrust the selection of a suitable analogue to a specialist.
