Drops "Bars" - a line of budgetary veterinary solutions against blood-sucking insects. They are safe for dogs and cats, applied in 1 - 2 minutes, and their protective properties last up to 2 months. However, it is worth remembering that violation of the instructions leads to unpleasant consequences.

The composition of the product against fleas and ticks

Drops contain three active ingredients:

  • Fipronil destroys adults. The substance blocks gamma-aminobutyric acid in cell membranes, disrupts neural connections, which leads to damage to the central nervous system of the blood-sucking.
  • Diflubenzuron exterminates parasites in transitional stages of development: it inhibits the formation of chitin, prevents the maturation of larvae from eggs, which leads to a reduction in the population of bloodsuckers.
  • Dicarboximide enhances the toxic properties of insecticides, prevents the formation of protective enzymes in insects.

The composition includes auxiliary components: isopropyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, polyvinylpyrrolidone. Drops are produced in the form of a transparent oily solution of yellowish color, are poured into vials or pipettes with a volume of 0.3 to 5 ml, packaged in boxes of 3 to 7 pieces.

Types of drops Bars

Insect acaricidal drops are released separately for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.

Their composition is the same, but the volume and concentration of active substances differ:

  • Drops of Bars for cats are packaged in 1 ml. This amount of solution contains 10 mg of insecticide.
  • Drops for dogs are found in a dosage of 1.4, 2.8, 4.2 and 5 ml. The amount of fipronil is 50 mg / ml, and it is 5 times more than in the solution for cats.
  • Drops for kittens and puppies from 10 months are released in the amount of 0.5 and 1 ml, which reduces the risk of overdose.
  • Bars Forte is a safer option. In it, the concentration of fipronil is halved and citronella oil is added, the smell of which repels bloodsucking. For cats, kittens and puppies, Bars Forte is released in 0.5 and 1 ml, for adult dogs - 1.8 ml.
  • Insect acaricidal ear drops contain diazinon. They treat the shell and the external auditory canal with otodectosis.

Drops "Bars" for dogs can not be processed cats, and vice versa.

In the first case, the concentration of the active substance is too high, in the second, the solution will be useless due to the low content of insecticide.

The effectiveness and action of the drug

Drops destroy larvae and adults: fleas, lice, ticks, and Halestiella. They are included in the regimen of complex therapy for lesions of scabies and subcutaneous mites: otodectosis, notothedrosis, sarcoptosis.

Active substances are absorbed into the epidermis, evenly distributed on the surface. Gradually settle in the sebaceous glands and hair follicles, then go out together with fat. Insectoacaricides paralyze bloodsuckers at the time of a bite, which leads to impaired motor, respiratory functions and death within 8 to 12 hours. At the same time, new individuals stop appearing. The smell repels bloodsuckers, so Bars is also used for prevention. It protects cats and dogs from 1 to 2 months, the specific period depends on the frequency of bathing.

"Bars" is a group of moderately hazardous substances of class 3. Poisonous ingredients are not absorbed into the blood of cats and dogs. With the right dosage and following the recommendations, Bars does not violate the functions of internal organs and systems, the skin, but irritates the mucous membranes of the eyes in case of accidental contact.

Instructions for use for cats and dogs

Prepare for the procedure in advance:

  • The pet is weighed to calculate the correct dose of solution.
  • An individual reaction is checked: one drop is applied, with the appearance of redness, itching is not used by Bars.
  • 3 days before and after treatment do not bathe: water, shampoos wash off the protective layer of sebum.
  • Carefully inspect if they find scratches, cuts, inflammation, the procedure is postponed.

Drops are applied once to dry skin. At the same time, change the litter or wash it with an antiparasitic agent.

If there is more than one pet in the house, everyone is treated:

  • The animal is fixed so that the body and head remain motionless.
  • Cut off the tip of the pipette, spread the wool with your fingers and drip the solution pointwise into areas where the animal cannot lick it: between the ears and shoulder blades, on the back of the head, on the spine.
  • The application site is lightly massaged to increase the flow of blood and speed up absorption.

Dose is calculated by weight:

Cats and kittens Dogs and puppies
Body weightThe volume of drops, mlBody weightThe volume of drops, ml
up to 10,32 – 101,4
1 – 30,610 – 202,8
3+120 – 304,2
30+5 + 0.1 ml per 1 kg of weight

Re-process no earlier than 1 month. When fixing the ixodid tick, the solution is dripped into the bite. Within half an hour, the parasite spontaneously disappears. If this does not happen, it is removed with tweezers with twisting movements.

With otodectosis, the inner surface of the ear is first cleaned of dirt and crusts with a gauze swab dipped in solution. Then apply 3-5 drops (in the size of a cat or dog) in each ear. The shell is rolled up and massaged so that the solution is distributed over the surface. Ears are treated twice at weekly intervals.
