The creation of carved candles is an ancient German art, still practiced among masters and amateurs. It consists in cutting out the upper layers of the candle, thanks to which the inner layers of other shades become noticeable. This allows you to create unusual compositions.

For example, such candles are created by artisans in the studio. "Monaartstudio."

And in quiet photographs you can see the work Masters from Thailand (instagram channel called Candleleboom).

How are carved candles made?

The process of making such a candle begins with layering wax of different colors on the wick. First, it is dipped in a bath of one color, then another, a third and so on. To better fix the layers, after each lowering, the future candle is cooled in cold water. Before the candle is ready, the whole process is repeated at least 30 times.

For masters, it is critical to achieve appropriate wax temperature. As new layers are superimposed, the candle becomes warmer and warmer - because water cools only its upper layers. But if the wax is too hot or cold, then cutting layers will not work. When the colored layers of wax are applied, the master only has 15 minutes to decorate the candle. Otherwise, it cools too much.
