If a state of health requires strengthening vessels in any part of the body, medications from the venotonic category are used. Troxevasin can also be attributed to them.

Release form and composition

The drug is made in several forms - ointment and gel in aluminum tubes of 40 or 100 g, packed in a cardboard box and solid yellow capsule cylinders with 300 mg of powder (also yellow or brown-yellow) inside, a dozen in a blister. There can be five or ten pieces in a pack.

As a rule, varieties of means for external application are freely available in pharmacies. And Troxevasin capsules will be sold only after presentation of the prescription with the signature of the doctor.

The main therapeutic substance in all forms is troxerutin, a synthetic substitute for vitamin P (bioflavonoid rutin, which is abundant in paprika, citrus fruits, tea leaves, apples, apricots, etc.), which can increase the strength of blood vessel walls.

Additional components in gel / ointment:

  • trolamine, a rapidly anesthetic site of pathology;
  • carbomer, which makes it easy to envelop and cover the desired area;
  • benzalkonium chloride - for disinfection;
  • disodium edetate dihydrate, preventing platelet adhesion;
  • purified water as a natural solvent.

In capsules:

  • titanium dioxide;
  • gelatin;
  • lactose;
  • quinoline yellow dye;
  • dye "Sunny sunset";
  • magnesium stearate.

Auxiliary substances are mainly designed to accelerate the delivery of the main element to the problem area.

Pharmacological action, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Regardless of the form in which the medication is released, it has an angioprotective effect. It restores the blood flow even in the smallest capillaries, removes edema, normalizes the tone and metabolism in the vessels.

This contributes to the fact that inflammation disappears and the risk of blood clots is reduced.

"Troxevasin" has a positive effect on the vascular system:

  • reduces oxidative processes in the affected area - oxidation of adrenaline, ascorbic and hyaluronic acids;
  • reduces swelling due to increased outflow of lymphatic fluid;
  • lowers permeability and fragility of capillary walls;
  • prevents trauma to the membrane of endothelial cells that cover the inner surface of blood vessels;
  • activates microcirculation and microvascular perfusion.

In addition to all this, the drug also acts as an anti-inflammatory - locally and globally.

In the case of varicose veins, the drug reduces the incidence of trophic ulcers, fights swelling and pain. With hemorrhoids, the symptoms of the disease in the form of bleeding, burning, itching, pain are much more rare.

The greatest accumulation of substance in blood plasma occurs, depending on various factors, 1 to 9 hours after using the medication (we are talking about capsules). The decrease in concentration occurs bio-exponentially, that is, in one period of time rather quickly, then much more slowly. Troxerutin binds to blood plasma proteins at the level of 27-29%, most accumulates in the endothelial coating of blood vessels.

It does not break through the blood-brain barrier (the barrier between the blood and tissue of the nervous system), in a small volume it crosses the placenta, and is found to be minimal in breast milk.

The glucuronidation process takes place in the liver, the remains of Troxevasin for the most part come out with bile, and it is removed a little with urine.

Why is Troxevasin prescribed?

Any disturbances in the flow of blood or inflammation in the vessels are the basis for the appointment of Troxevasin.

Among them are such conditions:

  • hemorrhoids;
  • leg cramps pestering at night;
  • superficial thrombophlebitis;
  • persistent venous insufficiency;
  • varicose veins on the legs;
  • swelling of the legs accompanying pregnancy;
  • anus injuries;
  • trophic ulcers on the skin;
  • stagnation of blood and lymph in the veins;
  • postoperative prophylaxis on arteries or veins.

In addition, Troxevasin ointment / gel is an excellent assistant if the goal is to prevent bruising and swelling on the skin due to shock, or at least significantly reduce them. And also, with very careful use, the product removes dark circles and swelling under the eyes.

Instructions for use and dosage

How to be treated with Troxevasin, the doctor will tell. There are cases, for example, venous insufficiency, when a specialist bases therapy on the use of several types of this agent. The combination of Troxevasin tablets with ointment allows you to achieve the greatest penetration of the healing substance into the membranes of the venous channel.

Capsules "Troxevasin"

As prescribed by the instructions for use, they need to be drunk one at a time twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening, during breakfast and dinner. The standard amount is 600 mg per day. However, if necessary, the doctor may decide to change the scheme - to increase both the dose and the number of doses.

When the course has provided a result and is completed, the therapeutic effect is fixed by swallowing one pill a day for the next three to four weeks.

Ointment or gel for external use

"Troxevasin" in the form of an ointment / gel is intended for external use only.

In this case, there are conditions that must be observed:

  1. To get rid of the darkened puffiness under the eyes, first carefully wash and dry your hands, remove makeup from your face, take the composition on your fingertip and apply it to the problem areas very carefully, so as not to get on the mucous organ of vision. Do not rinse.
  2. During strokes, the injured area is treated by performing two procedures per day. In this case, the Troxevasin gel or ointment is smeared with a thin layer, carefully, until it is completely absorbed, rubbing the composition into the skin and making sure that the product goes around open wounds, if any. You can’t push and rub with force! Usually enough for a few days.
  3. Similarly, with varicose veins. Only the duration of the course differs - it lasts from a month to three.
  4. "Troxevasin" is also used for herpetic eruptions on the face and genitals. However, he is able to force recovery processes only at the initial stage, since he is not able to stop the reproduction of pathogens.
  5. With hemorrhoids, an indisputable condition is hygiene. The medicine can be applied only to a clean, dry body.

"Troxevasin" rapidly penetrates the skin and has a restoring effect, so it quickly copes with edema and pain.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding

Doctors have not yet accumulated enough information about how this drug can affect a baby growing in the womb. In view of this, in the first three months of pregnancy, the use of Troxevasin is categorically prohibited. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a pill or an ointment, despite the fact that women awaiting the birth of a child have circulatory problems - this is not a rare occurrence.

The exception is the acute stage of hemorrhoids. To heal wounds and eliminate inflammation, they can prescribe it only by carefully weighing the ratio "the benefit of the future mother - harm to the fetus."

As for breastfeeding, treatment with Troxevasin does not affect the baby in any way. At least, nobody has recorded such moments. However, mother should be careful, and noticing that the child reacts negatively, stop treatment or temporarily transfer the crumbs to artificial nutrition.

Drug interaction

As shown by numerous clinical trials, the gel and ointment "Troxevasin" do not respond to any drugs. So, nothing can stop you from being treated, and they just as well will not spoil the healing effect of other medicines.

As for the encapsulated form of this vascular protector (protector), it is possible to enhance its positive effect with ascorbic acid.

But despite these characteristics, it is better not to take risks and tell the doctor about all the drugs that are currently being taken.

Compatibility "Troxevasin" with alcohol

If we talk about the interaction of this drug in alcohol under laboratory conditions, the latter does not affect the angioprotector designed to protect the walls of blood vessels.

But when the human body turns into a "laboratory", the situation changes. These substances still remain neutral to each other, but alcohol harms the body as a whole and the venous bed in particular. So the healing effect is completely leveled, and the condition can become even worse.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

Although the list of contraindications for Troxevasin is small, there are still several good reasons to refuse it.

These include:

  • first trimester of pregnancy (all forms of medical equipment are prohibited);
  • age less than three years;
  • allergy to any of the ingredients of the composition;
  • stomach ulcer (capsule forbidden);
  • duodenal ulcer (capsules prohibited);
  • exacerbation of gastritis (you can not use the encapsulated form).

It is prudent to resort to medicine for the healing of children from three to fifteen years old, as well as patients with renal failure. When carrying a child, after 12 weeks, an ointment / gel may be prescribed with the permission of a doctor.

No one is safe from the unpleasant secondary effects of this drug, although this rarely happens.

The use of capsules can provoke:

  • skin rash and itching, urticaria;
  • anaphylactic shock;
  • dizziness;
  • bad sleep;
  • headaches;
  • pain or discomfort in the stomach;
  • ecchymosis (hemorrhage in the skin or mucous membrane);
  • bouts of nausea and vomiting;
  • diarrhea;
  • asthma (due to intolerance to dyes);
  • fatigue.

The use of "Troxevasin" in high doses (mainly for oral form) threatens with phenomena similar to side effects, but more pronounced.

Analogues of the drug

There are analogues of Troxevasin, both tableted and in the form of gels.

Among the first:

  • Troxerutin
  • Troxerutin-Zentiva;
  • Troxerutin-MIK;
  • Troxerutin-Vramed;
  • Venoruton and others.

Substitutes for external use include:

  • "Troxerutin." By the name of the main drug substance, the same as in Troxevasin. How to decide which is better, Troxevasin or Troxerutin? They act almost the same, but the second is much cheaper;
  • "Venohepanol." Resists the formation of blood clots in the veins;
  • "Venoruton." Effective with severe swelling of the legs;
  • Troxegel. It has proven itself in the fight against hemorrhoids;
  • Phleboton. It strengthens veins, enhances lymph outflow;
  • "Toxivenol." Many recognize it as the best analogue of Troxevasin. Activates anti-inflammatory processes. Among the advantages is a low price.

It is undesirable to arbitrarily and choose another medicine at your own discretion. The informed decision to replace Troxevasin with something else must be made by the doctor.
